It is known the first details of the Volkswagen Phaeton new generation sedan. The car will hit the market in 2018 and will receive an electric motor.
Volkswagen Phaeton, the first generation which entered the market in 2002, was one of the favorite projects of Ferdinand Piech. However, in USA the model is not gained great popularity, losing to competitors like the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class. The main market for "Phaeton" became Asia - more than 70% of all VW Phaeton were sold there.
However, things could change with the arrival of the new generation Phaeton. According to insiders, the company of Wolfsburg should get the electric power installation, which will be rated at 800 volts and allows passing up to 500 km with a single charge. For charging the battery the new Volkswagen Phaeton will need only 15 minutes.
